Recommended Care for Swimwear

B-41.jpg

All swimwear that contains polyester is considered to be more chlorine resistant than swimwear without.

After every use, the garment must be handwashed. Harmful elements such as

  • suntan lotion

  • salt

  • chlorine, and

  • body perspiration

can cause discoloration and spandex breakdown.

Since laundry detergents are too harsh on the spandex and the colour, use mild hand soap made without added moisturizers'.

Do not wring the swimsuit to remove excess water. Lay it flat on a towel and roll up the towel and squeeze gently. Remove it from the towel and lay it flat to dry. Do not hang to dry as that will stretch the frabic's fibres.

Avoid using washing machines and clothes dryers as damage can occur to your swimsuit because of the agitation and excessive heat.

It's also important to allow your suit to 'rest' between uses. This will allow the spandex to bounce back (called recovery) to it's original shape and size and maintain it's fit longer.

If you wear a suit without letting it 'recover', it will lose it's shape and size more quickly. It is recommended to allow the suit to rest for 24-36 hours between uses. Always remove excess moisture with a towel and lay flat to dry indoors or in the shade.

Also note, direct sunlight will fade your suit, so it may be a great idea to own more than one suit.
